Unused Baby Names

Standard

We all have them, list of baby names to consider for when the time comes.  I started mine before Little Man was born and he is now almost 4 1/2.  Now that I’m pretty sure we are done in the kid department after Baby J is born I feel like I should share.  But first the breakdown of the names chosen.

I don’t remember having a set boy or girl name before we knew that Little Man was a “Man”.  I just remember once we knew that he was a “Man” that it was between two names there for while, Liam or Lane.  With this one I had a full boy name and a full girl name before we knew the sex ready and waiting.  Once we found out it was a girl the name did evolve and change some.

Original Boy Name:  LOGAN HOLLIS

No connection to the names except that I liked them.  I have never heard of the name Hollis before and saw it on Facebook one day so it had the strong and unique factor.  With already having a boy I thought the first names should start with the same letter, Why do we do that people?  My mom is 1 of 4 girls that all start with P.  I am 1 of 2 girls that start with S.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against it.  I mean, if we were having a boy right now then I would be on that bandwagon too.

Original Girl Name: JOSSLYN SADIE

Josslyn has been on my list since before Liam.  It has the feminine and unique factor.  The spelling is different and modern, which I like.  Sadie just sounded pretty and rolled off the tongue.  BUT it was a little country and didn’t stick.  I really wanted a family name in there somewhere.  So I sat down with the Big Man and I told him that he could choose the middle name but he had to choose one of the following three:

Josslyn Jane (Grandmother’s Middle Name)

Josslyn Ann (Other Grandmother’s Middle Name)

Josslyn Teddie (Big Man’s Middle Name is Theodore after his grandfather so it is a girly version of the family name on his side)  Plus have a mentioned yet that I love Girl-Boy names?

Baby’s Name: JOSSLYN TEDDIE

Other Unused Girl Names:  Girls

Reese

Paige

Leah

Liv

Ellie

Larsyn

Rory

Leni

Laney

Sawyer

Slone

Macie

Sunny

Lexie

and I know a lot of people will think this is on the wrong list but I love the idea of Logann for a girl.

Unused Boy Names:

Lane

Landon

Lennon

Rider

Sawyer

Sloan

I must have known I was going to have a girl in the back of my mind the whole time.  I really didn’t focus on those that much this time around.  I will say though that I do LOVE my boy name so if anyone wants to use it go right ahead!  I was very leery of it when the top baby names came out because Logan is in the top 10 boy names of 2011 or something like that but in the end I didn’t care I still loved it.

Don’t worry, I’m still here!!  I sort of lost the blog bug for a little while and hope that I catch it again with the soon to be birth of our baby girl!

Update:  The pregnancy has been going great.  I’m not a complainer so even if it wasn’t I’m not the one to say much different.  I have the usual late pregnancy stuff going on.  Heartburn, swollen feet and ankles.  It was stressful there for a couple of weeks/months but that was due to getting the room ready.

I insisted on having bead board in the room.  My husband and I are pretty handy people but we had never taken on a bigger job like that.  My husband did a wonderful job with a help of a friend.  It took longer then expected b/c of the weather and what not but none of that matters because it came out BEAUTIFULLY!!

I also insisted on having a girly blue color for the room.  There is just something about a girl and feminine blue with me.  I love it!  Here are some pics of the room.  Some phone pictures and some my sister took. Wish we would have stopped and taken more.  There are a couple of things that we didn’t get pictures of that I wish we would have now.

Another thing that came out ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFULLY was the Baby Shower/Sprinkle <3.  My two best friends put it on for me with the help of some others, 😉 they would not let me get involved at all.  I’m going to be honest, I was really upset at first because I love to party plan and craft and be creative.  But God knew what he was doing with them and I was able to put my efforts towards the baby room.  They blew my expectation out of the water and now I’m intimidated to put a shindig together when they are around.

Me and the Hostesses and Besties!!

So there is a quick snap shot of the last couple of weeks.  After this Easter weekend I plan on taking it super slow and easy.  I’m getting to the, I’m really tired and don’t want to do much but wait I need to take care of this, while my husband gets really frustrated and insists that I sit down.  Thanks Babe!

Anyways, I hope that everyone has a Wonderful Easter and remembers what it is all about!

Getting Excited

Standard

I know I have not had a post in a long time and I’m sorry.  I have been busy scouring Blogs, Pinterest, Etsy, and anything else I can think of to get ideas for the Nursery.  It has been so much fun.  I have several DIY Projects in mind and almost ready to start.  I few things that we have to do to the actual room before we can start putting the room together.  When I say we, I really mean the Big Man.  He is such a sweet man and is humoring me with my decision to put up beadboard/wainscoting in the room.  Will post some before and after pictures when that’s done.

We’re having a ……

Standard

I have not explained the happenings of finding out the gender of our baby on the blog.  Well if you remember I posted that we would hopefully find out on Dec. 8th.

I just knew that this baby was going to be like Little Man and not show us the goods and sure enough if he/she didn’t.  The Sonographer did everything she could to get a 100% on the sex of the baby.

Not only that but, I had this whole plan on how she was going to write the sex down and put it in an envelope so my sister could get a box of balloons and surprise us with the rest of our family.  It was going to be awesome.  Nope, didn’t happen.  I walked out of there disappointed but not surprised.  They basically told me that because they could see everything else with the baby and that the baby was completely healthy that it was not “deemed necessary” to do another sonogram.  I didn’t know what I was going to do.

I always knew that I wanted to have one of those 3D/4D Sonograms with this baby and even suggested it as a Christmas gift from my family.  So when my sister saw how disappointed I was she said she would go ahead and get that for us for Christmas, it included a quick “Gender Check”.  YAY!

The next week I was going to California for business and would be gone all week so I knew that I was going to have to wait another week and possibly two because then it was Christmas week, ect.  So when I got back in to work on Monday and called about get an appointment she said, “I have one today at 3.”  I said, “I’ll take it!”

I did not tell my husband or anyone else in my family in hopes that I could still pull out a surprise for someone and wait until Christmas to do a mini Gender Reveal.  I held on to that secret from Monday until Christmas Eve on Saturday.  It was hard but worth it.

So as you can see from the Pink Balloon, we are having a Girl!

Last Christmas…..with JUST Little Man

Standard

Why is it that Christmas seems like it is a while away and then once it is here you start saying, “I can’t believe it is Christmas already!?”  Well, that is how I feel this week.  I also had the thought of “Wow, this is probably going to be the easiest Christmas I will have for a while too.”  Starting next year I will have double the gift buying, double the hiding and sneaking, double the projects and double the wrapping.  I hope I can handle it, I hope I can try to be the same Mommy to one as I am to two.

I also started thinking that I will have double the excitement, double the cuteness, double the love and joy of sharing such a wonderful time and the Love of Jesus.

So I’m soaking this Christmas in.  By this time next year everything will be such a blur and I will be trying to find my footing with two.  So I’m going to spend extra time with Big and Little…..uh, right after tonight and my last things of to do’s.

Boy or Girl?

Standard

BOY or GIRL?  I thought it would be fun to do a little experiment and try all the online quizzes and old wives tales-do-it-yourself tests to see what the different outcomes are.  FIRST UP….

The Age-Month Gender Test – Okay this comes from one of my friends and they say it works like 97% of the time or something.  This is a simple one.  Take the age you were when you conceived and the month you conceived in and add them together.  Even Numbers it’s a Girl Odd Numbers it’s a Boy.   (This baby  28 + 8 = 36)    (Little Man  24 + 1 = 25 Odd and he was a boy)

Results:  IT’S A GIRL!

Old Wives Girl or Boy Quiz – You can take the quiz here. This one takes all the old wives tales and lumps them together for one quiz.  You know like the are you carrying low or high?  Craving Salty or Sweet? Rate of baby’s heart beat? Ect., Ect.

Results:  You answered 3 items out of 10 Yes.   Your score is 30%. Congratulations! According to the Old Wives it’s a girl!

Ancient Chinese Birth Chart – You can take this one here. This is an “ancient Chinese calendar” It states that there is a 93% accuracy.

Results:  Congratulations! It’s a boy!

Is it a Girl or Boy Quiz – You can take it here. This is another general wives tales type of quiz.  Things like, Boxer or Briefs, Who is frisky first, Salty or Sweet, High or Low?

Results:  It’s a Boy!

Gender Prediction QuizYou can take it here.  Another general wives tales type of quiz.

Results:   Congratulations!  It’s a Boy!

Girl or Boy: The Heart Rate Test – To conduct the this old wives tale you simply take your baby’s heart rate in beats per minute (bpm) using a doppler or fetoscope and look at the chart:   Over 140 = girl    Under 140 = boy  (Little Man’s heart beat was in the 140’s the entire time)

8 Week Check up: 160’s

12 Week Check up: 160’s

16 Week Check up: 146

Inconclusive for now!

If all goes well we will find out Dec. 8th!  That’s in like 20 DAYS People!

Where have I been?

Standard

I wish I could give you some totally impressive answer like in the Mountains skiing, or on a beach in Florida or camping in some national park.  No, I have been at home and work and doing the normal life stuff.  BORING!  Life has been so of the norm that I guess I have not been inspired lately and have left this blog sparse with any coolness.  Not that I had much before.

Baby B (B, as in Second Child, B, as in last name starts with B, Not B, as in that is what the name is going to start with.) is growing right along with the size of my belly!  Little Man seems to still be happy about he whole thing and every now and then he will want to hug, kiss, sing or listen to the baby.  I can’t get over how big he is.  We are also excited that we will have an ultrasound in the next 3-4 weeks, and yes we are going to find out the gender!  We have already cleared out the “Toy Room” to make it the baby room.  Which took some work, Organizing, Donating and furniture buying to accommodate the toys being in other parts of our house.  Now we just need to pull out all the baby gear from the attic and see what we have and don’t have and if there is anything to re-buy.

We are gearing up for Thanksgiving this year.  This will be the first Thanksgiving at our house so our first Turkey too!  I have been on The Food Network Website watching videos and taking notes.  Should be interesting!  It will be Potluck so we will really only have to worry about the Turkey and a dessert.  So imagine me doing that thing where I pretend to wipe away sweat from my brow meaning that was a close one and we got away with something.  I can’t fathom having to do a whole Thanksgiving meal.

I have also been trying to spend as much time with my two best friends seeing how soon it will only be one best friend.  That’s right, two of the very most important people in my life of all time (Bestie and her daughter) are moving.  Moving 1200 miles away.  Do you know what 1200 miles is?  It is, life is so busy and I am not rich enough to just hop on a plane when I want that it will be years before we see each other again.  I have shed soo many tears over this and if I think about it too long they start pouring out of my eyes before I can suck them back in.  But that is another post.  Right now there is no set date just a cloud of know that we don’t have much time looming over us.

Well, that’s it for now.  I hate to end on a sad note.  I wish there was more to write or post about lately and I’m sorry there’s not.  I will have a fun post coming soon about old wives tales soon.  I hope that all your Thanksgiving planning is coming along and that everyone is spending it with the people they love!  Oh and great food, the best part!

Telling the Family

Standard

Man, keeping a secret like that is HARD!  I think with Little Man everyone knew within a week of us finding out.  Holding that in until the 9 week mark was the hardest, I can’t imagine waiting a full 12.

So when I told Big Man and looked up different ways to tell him I read different ways to tell others as well and I have seen the I’m going to be a big brother/big sister thing before.  But I wanted it to be at a time where everyone was going to be together so everyone could find out at once.  So lucky for me, my birthday was right around the corner.  I knew that when people asked “what do you want to do for your birthday?” I would just say, “a family/friends dinner and cake!”  Simple, huh?  I thought that I would make it kind of fun and do a at home photo booth thing and ask my sister to bring her camera. Fun for everyone and a little more than dinner and cake.

So I searched the good ol’ world wide web for a kickin’ Big Brother T-Shirt and saw this really cute one on Etsy, but the price was not right so I went onto http://www.uberprint.com and made one.  We loved that it said Big Brother to be and that the font/design reminds you of a baseball type shirt.

I figured everyone would show up and say their hello’s and maybe start making salads or play in the photo set up and I would casually be like, “Hey, Little Man”  Let’s go change your shirt, that one’s dirty!”  Take him to the back change the shirt and then walk out like no big deal right?    Worked like a Charm!

My Sister was the first one to spot it and spun her head around and looked at me all one eye brow raised.  Then asked my Mom who was sitting right next to her. “Did you see his shirt?”  At this point Little Man was all over the place and knew what his shirt said so he was being kinda shy about it.  Everyone started to look and ask him to turn around.  It was fun and even though he was being shy, he was pretty proud of his shirt.

Here are some pictures of the night.

Telling Little Man

Standard

So, like the minute I told Big Man and we did the Hug and Kiss thing,  He goes over to Little Man and says Little Man…..

 Me: Nooooooo!

Him: What? He need’s to know.

Me: Yes, but not right now lets wait a little.  Plus he is almost 4 he wont be able to keep it a secret.  (The whole time he is staring up at us like, What?)

Me: Oh, okay, it is too late, look at him!?!?

Big Man:  Mommy and Daddy have something to tell you,  Mommy is going to have a baby.

Little Man:  EYE’S Big-Mouth Open!

Me:  But it is going to be a long time because it has to grow in Mommy’s belly.

Little Man:  Mommy, why did you eat the baby?

Oh-my-gosh!  We were rolling, I almost fell on the floor!

5 minutes later:

Little Man: Mommy, where does the baby come out at?

Another Oh-my-gosh moment but in a different way.  Like, what the heck kind of can of worms did we just open?  He is not ready for “Girl Parts” talk is he?

Me:  The Hospital (I was like, yeah, cool answer, he might actually take it)

Little Man:  But how does the baby get out?

Me: We will discuss it when you get older.

Little Man: The baby is going to POP your belly off! Giggle.

The next morning getting ready for school:

Let me first start with a back story.  Little Man gets prizes at school if they are good all week.  Well he picked out these rings.  Green fake jewels in the shape of a heart.  He didn’t think anything of it expect that he wanted a ring on his finger like Mommy and Daddy.  Well Daddy was cool about it and after about a week kindly told him that those were girl rings.  So Little Man gave them to me, saying he didn’t want them anymore that they were for girls.

So while we were getting ready for school he saw the two rings and said, let’s save these for the baby! Aww!

And the most recent from this past weekend.  My mom was watching him and she asked him if he wanted me to have a boy or a girl.  Which by the way, every time you ask, hand down he wants a boy.

Little Man: I Boy, a boy like me and daddy.  Like me, it’s going to be me.

So he basically wants a clone brother.  I can’t blame him!
